Creating Your First Chatbot

This guide will walk you through creating your first chatbot on the BuildMy.Bot platform.

Step 1: Access the Chatbot Dashboard

  1. Log into your BuildMy.Bot account
  2. Navigate to the Dashboard
  3. Click on "Create New Chatbot" or go to ChatbotsCreate

Step 2: Basic Configuration

Chatbot Details

  • Name: Give your chatbot a descriptive name (e.g., "Customer Support Bot")
  • Description: Add a brief description of the chatbot's purpose
  • Status: Set to "Active" when ready to deploy

Appearance Settings

  • Primary Color: Choose a color that matches your brand
  • Welcome Message: Customize the first message users see
  • Fallback Message: Set a default response for unrecognized queries

Step 3: Add Knowledge Sources

Your chatbot needs information to provide helpful responses:

Upload Documents

  1. Go to Knowledge SourcesAdd New
  2. Choose "Upload Document"
  3. Select PDF files, Word documents, or text files
  4. Add a title and description for each source

Add Website Content

  1. Choose "Website URL"
  2. Enter the URL of pages you want to include
  3. The system will automatically extract and process the content

Manual Content Entry

  1. Choose "Manual Entry"
  2. Use the rich text editor to add custom content
  3. Organize content with categories and tags

Step 4: Configure Instructions

Instructions define how your chatbot behaves:

Basic Instructions

  • Define the chatbot's personality and tone
  • Set response guidelines and limitations
  • Configure fallback responses

Advanced Instructions

  • Add conditional logic for different scenarios
  • Configure custom actions and integrations
  • Set up escalation rules for human handoff

Step 5: Test Your Chatbot

  1. Use the Test Chat feature in the dashboard
  2. Try various questions and scenarios
  3. Refine instructions and knowledge sources as needed
  4. Test the chatbot with different user types

Step 6: Deploy Your Chatbot

Web Widget

  1. Go to DeploymentWeb Widget
  2. Copy the provided embed code
  3. Add it to your website's HTML

WhatsApp Integration

  1. Configure WhatsApp settings in Integrations
  2. Connect your WhatsApp Business account
  3. Set up webhook URLs
